The good stuff

The interface is clean and straightforward, which is nice if you’re not into complex software. I liked that it didn’t make me jump through hoops to open a file. Just drag and drop a video, and you’re in. The EQ controls are actually pretty responsive - I could easily bump up the high mids to make dialogue clearer without making everything sound tinny. And since it’s free, there’s no pressure to upgrade or deal with ads. For a quick fix on a single clip, it got the job done without fuss.

The not-so-good

But here’s the catch - it’s really barebones. No waveform display, no preview playback, nothing to show you exactly where you’re boosting or cutting frequencies. You’re basically guessing based on how it sounds. Also, it doesn’t handle batch processing at all. If you have five videos needing the same fix, you’re doing them one by one. And the lack of version info or developer details makes me wonder if this thing is even being maintained. There’s no clear way to report bugs or get help either. It feels like someone dropped a tool on GitHub and called it a day. Not great if you’re serious about audio work.

Bottom line

If you need a no-frills, free way to tweak audio on a single video clip and don’t mind working blind, Particular for Mac - Download for Mac might save you a few minutes. But if you want real control, proper previews, or any kind of reliability, skip it. There are better free options out there - Audacity, for example, does way more and is actively updated. This one’s okay for a one-off fix, but don’t count on it for anything important.
