The good stuff

It’s not flashy, but it cuts down on clicks when you’re trying to keep up during a busy day. The presence indicators - available, busy, in a meeting - are accurate enough that you don’t waste time texting someone who’s already in a call.

The not-so-good

But here’s the thing: if you’re not in a company that uses Microsoft’s ecosystem, this feels like overkill. It’s not designed for casual use. There’s no way to sign up with just an email. You need a work account tied to Exchange or Azure AD. So unless you’re already in a business setup, you’ll be stuck.

And yeah, it’s clunky compared to regular Skype. The UI feels dated, and the animations lag a little. Also, no custom themes or fun emojis. Just plain text and basic icons. If you want something more polished or flexible, go with regular Skype instead - it’s free and works across all devices.

Bottom line

If you’re in a company using Office 365 and need to chat, call, or share files with coworkers, then yes - Skype for Business for Mac - Download for Android is worth it.
