The good stuff

There are five distinct sound sets: NX, TNG, New Trek, TOS, and DISCO-TREK. Each has two variations, so you can switch between subtle and dramatic. I tried the TNG one first - the deep hums and crisp clicks reminded me of Data’s voice interface. Then I switched to the TOS version, which is just pure nostalgia. The beeps and whirs are spot-on, like something from an old sci-fi episode. It’s not overwhelming. You don’t get hit with audio every time you tap a key - it’s subtle, but present enough to notice. If you're into that kind of thing, it’s genuinely satisfying. The sounds aren’t just recycled stock effects; they feel intentional, like someone actually listened to the shows.

The not-so-good

And here’s the catch - this app doesn’t run on its own. You can’t open it like a regular keyboard. You have to apply the theme inside GO Keyboard settings. There’s a video guide in the app, but it’s not super intuitive. I spent five minutes fumbling around before I figured out where to go. Also, it only works with GO Keyboard. If you’re using Gboard or SwiftKey, forget it. That limits its audience pretty hard. And no, it doesn’t work with other themes outside of GO Keyboard’s system. So if you’re not already invested in that keyboard, this won’t help you much. Also, the app itself is barebones - no customization beyond choosing a sound pack. No volume sliders, no key press feedback options. Just install, apply, done.

Bottom line

If you’re a Star Trek fan and already use GO Keyboard, this is a free, fun little toy. It’s not going to change your life, but it makes typing slightly more enjoyable when you’re in the mood for some space vibes. But if you’re not using GO Keyboard, skip it. There’s no point. It’s a solid niche product - nothing fancy, but it does exactly what it says. Worth a download if you fit the profile. Otherwise, pass.
