The good stuff

It’s small. Like, really small. Took under 5MB to install and didn’t hog CPU or memory. The playlist feature actually worked decently - dragged in a bunch of .swf files, played them back-to-back like a mini Flash jukebox. And the progress bar? Not just a placeholder. It updated properly during playback, which surprised me. I also liked that it didn’t try to be flashy itself - no ads, no bundled toolbars, just pure Flash playback. For its time, it was clean and focused.

The not-so-good

Here’s the thing - it hasn’t been updated since 2005. Yeah, you read that right. The version is still 2.6. If you’re running anything newer than Windows XP, it might not even launch. I tried it on Win10 and it choked immediately. Even if it worked, most modern browsers have killed off Flash support completely, so why bother? Plus, there’s no way to convert or download videos - the source description says it can do that, but in practice, it doesn’t. You can only play what’s already on your machine. And the “download” part? No real interface for fetching Flash files from websites. Just a myth.

Bottom line

If you’re stuck with a pile of old .swf files on a Windows 98 machine and need to play them without fuss, FlashPlayer Plus - Download for Windows might work. But otherwise, skip it. There are better ways now - like using Ruffle, an open-source Flash emulator that runs in modern browsers. It’s actively maintained, supports more formats, and works on any OS. This app is basically a museum piece. Free? Sure. Worth downloading? Not unless you're doing a retro tech project. Just go with Ruffle instead.
