qTranslate META for WordPress

The good stuff

It does exactly what it says on the tin. When you enable it with qTranslate, it throws an extra panel right in the post editor where you can drop in keywords and descriptions per language. No more guessing or relying on default text. I remember one page where I had a French version that kept defaulting to English meta tags - after adding the French description via this plugin, boom, it showed up in French searches within a week. The browser title override is a nice touch too - lets you tweak how the page appears in tabs without changing the actual title. It’s clean, minimal, and doesn’t slow down editing.

The not-so-good

And here’s the catch - you absolutely need qTranslate installed. If you’re already using that, great. But if you’re not, don’t install this just for the sake of it. Also, I tried pairing it with All In One SEO, and it went full chaos - duplicate meta tags, conflicts, random 500 errors. Not a fan. There’s no real support info, no changelog, nothing. Developer’s ghosted. And since it’s free, you’re kind of on your own. Also, some themes break the layout slightly - minor, but annoying when you’re trying to publish fast. It’s not a bad plugin, but it’s very niche and fragile.

Bottom line

If you’re already deep in the qTranslate ecosystem and need better multilingual SEO control, go ahead. It’s free and does its job quietly. But if you’re not using qTranslate, or you’re using other SEO plugins, skip it. WP Multilang is way more stable and feature-packed for the same purpose. qTranslate META for WordPress for Wordpress is okay as a quick fix, but only if you’re already in that workflow. Otherwise, there are better tools out there.
